Special Margin: The exchange may on occasion decide, in the event of increased volatility, to impose special margin requirements as deemed appropriate. This special margin could even be imposed on all open positions or on any particular contract or commodity. Special margins may be applied over and above other applicable margins (e.g. Initial Margins and MTM Margins).
